The Japanese porn industry (known locally as AV for “adult video”) is quite frankly gigantic. Although video sales of all kinds are in decline around the world thanks to digital accessibility there are still countless porn shops in Japan that are filled from wall to wall with porn releases. Big companies like Soft on Demand cultivate new actresses and put out lots of different movies while little guys drop their own movies on the market. They say things are slowing down a bit but it’s tough to tell especially when huge stores like M’s in Akihabara stock so many DVDs.
Some reasons that the porn industry in Japan has continued to do well is that it puts an incredible amount of focus on finding and developing talent, creating interesting stories and situations, and most importantly producing high quality content. Things like fan meet and greats must help too.
The website R18 which has been mentioned here many times in the past represents all that is right with the Japanese porn industry. The large site has catalogued thousands upon thousands of videos from many different production companies that are searchable by subject, title and star. They also recommend videos and show what it is trending each and every day. Videos can be streamed online or purchased for download. Customers can also subscribe to various channels that give them a constant flow of new AV.
The same site recently announced the results for their 2016 DMM.R18 awards. Beautiful and sexy stars like AIKA, Julia and Mana Sakura took some of the top prizes but the best actress award went to none other than the stunningly hot Hibiki Otsuki.
Hibiki has done a number of films but my favorite so far is probably the star studded “We Met 3 Actresses Who Immediately Started Us On A Creampie Raw Footage Harlem Sex Show” which sees her dressed up in some very hot neon fishnets among other outfits in the hours-long epic. The box cover alone lets you know what a great piece of cinema this is.
The DMM company never consulted me on these awards but if they would have I would have thrown my vote behind the exotic and super sexy AIKA. Her new film “A Creampie Shaved Pussy Pay For Play Gal” would be all the evidence I need to back up my argument. I do like Hibiki but for me AIKA made more of a splash.
I visit R18 frequently which is why I was aware of the recent award announcements. The site is constantly running sales and promotions including a recent 60 percent off deal on numerous videos. It pays to check back to the site often to see what’s trending and new and maybe even rub one out between other tasks. Clicking around the site can take up some time though as one interesting video after another appears in “you may also like” recommendations. Don’t say I didn’t warn you!
